DIVERSITY, INCLUSION,
BELONGING & PEOPLE AND CULTURE
We’re creating more than a team—we’re creating community.
One where everyone is seen, supported, and set up to do their best work in a space that reflects the world we share.
We Belong. Together.
What We Mean by Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging
At MAKAIO CREATIVE GROUP, we’re not checking boxes—we’re setting the bar. We believe diversity is a strength, inclusion is a practice, and belonging is the outcome of intentional culture work done daily, not just during hiring cycles or cultural months. This isn't about optics; it's about building a workplace where creativity is nurtured by different perspectives, where everyone has the opportunity to lead, and where your background isn’t something to overcome—it’s something to celebrate.
Diversity at MCG means having a team made up of different races, cultures, identities, generations, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and lived experiences.
Inclusion means creating a workplace culture where those differences aren’t just accepted but actively valued and reflected in how we work, lead, and collaborate.
Belonging is the result—when our people feel seen, supported, and empowered to do their best work because they know they matter.
Accountability in Action
We believe progress starts with transparency and continues through accountability. So we don’t just talk about change—we track it, share it, and constantly assess where we can do better.
Here’s how we’ve been walking the talk:
Leadership Representation
We're focused on ensuring leadership reflects the communities we serve:
44% of open global leadership positions were filled by women
15% of U.S. leadership hires came from underrepresented communities (URCs)
38% of U.S. leadership roles were filled by Black professionals
12% by Hispanic/Latinx professionals
25 % Asian & Pacific Islanders
Inclusive Hiring Practices
From inclusive job descriptions to diverse hiring panels, our process is designed to attract top talent from all backgrounds—not just the usual pipelines.
Equity Audits & Pay Transparency
We routinely audit our compensation practices and promotion pathways to ensure fairness across gender, race, and role.
Partnerships & Pipeline Development
We work with mission-aligned organizations, HBCUs, design collectives, and affinity networks to build meaningful talent pipelines.
Demographic Snapshot
Why We Do It And How
As of September 2022, our commitment to transparency extends to our demographics. Please note that numbers may not sum precisely due to rounding. We believe that sharing this data is a vital step in fostering accountability and maintaining the integrity of our dedication to diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) are not just buzzwords for us—they are intrinsic to our organizational DNA. These principles are intricately woven into the fabric of our programs, reflecting our dedication to instigating positive change, fortifying employee resilience, and building a robust community. To achieve these goals, we are actively investing in the future by nurturing the next generation of talent, broadening our candidate pools, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging, and addressing the diverse needs of our employees to empower their development and success.
“We believe in leadership that listens. From quarterly engagement surveys to anonymous suggestion platforms, skip-level meetings, and our Culture Council — every voice shapes our path forward.”
People & Culture
What We’re Building Together
More Than a Department. It’s How We Lead.
At most companies, People & Culture is a department. At MCG, it’s a mindset.
We’ve reimagined the role of HR into something much more impactful—a strategic, human-centered group focused on the full employee journey: from recruitment to retirement, from first-day nerves to five-year growth plans. It’s about designing a workplace where people feel energized to show up, speak up, and grow with intention.
Well-Being First
Our approach to wellness is holistic. We offer access to therapy and coaching services, mindfulness and stress management programs, generous time off, flexible work schedules, and “deep work” no-meeting days to support mental clarity and focus.
A Culture of Growth
No one is boxed into a title at MCG. Our culture encourages fluidity in learning and responsibility. Whether you’re an intern or a senior leader, there’s room to stretch, shadow, and shift. We offer:
Professional development stipends
Monthly learning labs
